About AddSpeechBubble
A free speech bubble maker for photos, memes and comics, made by a small independent studio.
AddSpeechBubble lets you add comic, thought, manga, pixel and chat speech bubbles to any picture and download the result as PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF. It started in April 2026 as a single-page tool and has grown into a family of generators, a template library, a community gallery and a blog about speech bubbles in comics and memes.
The site is built and run by Jam Hsiao at Rainverse, a small independent studio that makes creative tools for the web and for phones. There is no big company behind it, which is why the editor is simple, quick to load, and does not ask you to create an account to download your work.
What we care about
Your photos stay on your device
The editor draws everything in your browser with the Canvas API. A photo you open is never uploaded unless you choose to publish it to the gallery.
Free means free
Every bubble style, every export format, no watermark, no sign-up. The free editor is the product, not a trial.
Fast on a phone
Most people add bubbles on a phone, so the editor has a focus mode, portrait canvases and touch-sized controls, and the page loads without layout jumps.
Made for many languages
The editor and the main tool pages are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Japanese and Turkish.
How the site pays for itself
Hosting, image storage and the AI meme generator cost money every month. The site covers that with advertising and, soon, an optional Pro plan for people who need larger exports, batch downloads and animated bubbles for their work. Nothing that is free today will move behind the paywall.
We also link to Sumi, a manga translator made by the same studio. Those links are clearly marked and are not paid placements from third parties.
